2 Taken By Life Flight After Crash in Avon; 611 Re-opens

Two injured after Honda strikes semi-tractor trailer.

 

An accident at 611 (Stoney Ridge) and Chester roads in Avon closed the road for several hours this morning but 611, which was closed north and southbound, has reopened, Avon Police confirmed.

According to a press release issued by the police, a passenger car and a semi-truck collided at 7:08 am.

Avon firefighters and police arrived to find a 1992 Honda entangled with the semi-trailer.

The driver of the Honda a 22-year-old Mansfield man and his passenger, a 23-year-old Avon woman were trapped in the vehicle. Avon firefighters extracted both and took them to the Avon Emergency Care Center where both were taken by Metro’s LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical center.

According to preliminary reports, the Honda was traveling eastbound on 611 when it went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. The Honda then crossed the raised concrete median and entered the westbound lanes of 611 and then struck the semi-trailer.

The Honda was dragged a short distance before it came to rest.

East and westbound lanes of 611 were closed for several hours.

The names of the man and woman in the Honda are being withheld pending notification of family members.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
