2000 Officer of the Year Promoted to Sergeant
Reed Reikowski has been on the force since 1998
Avon Lake Police Officer Reed Reikowksi was promoted to sergeant in the department Jan. 9. Reikowski was promoted to complete a complement following the retirement of Randy Bennett this month.
Reikowski was hired by the police department in April of 1998. He is a graduate of the Ohio State Patrol Academy and was the Avon Lake Officer of the Year in 2000. He has been active with the Lorain County Drug Task Force for more than 10 years. Councilman David Kos, who introduced the motion at City Council to approve Reikowksi, said the new sergeant should be “recognized for his pro-active approach.”
“Reed Reikowksi is well-deserving of this promotion…it’s long overdue,” Kos said.
Reikowski's wife Amy and son Caden were in attendance for his swearing in as sergeant.
