All Dogs In the Pool: Big Splash Pooch Party is Sept. 8

Popular annual event features a dog swim, contests and prizes.

Save the date and get that swimsuit ready for Fido.

The 7th Annual ‘Big Splash’ Dog Party, held after the officially closes to humans only, is Saturday, Sept. 8 from noon – 5 p.m.

In the past, hundreds of dogs (and their owners) have turned out for games, contests, prizes and food in a fun fundraiser that benefits Love-A-Stray.

“It is our favorite event,” Love-A-Stray founder Connie Field said of the annual, well-attended event held in

Open to the public from any community, the event features D.J. Easy-N-Crew providing music, and 14 different contests including Littlest and Biggest Splash, smallest, tallest and biggest dog, longest and shortest dive, the Lazy River race and the ever-popular Bow Wow Bathing Suit contest and dog/owner look alike contest.

Those looking to adopt a dog are in luck: severable adoptable dogs from Love-A-Stray will be featured at the Big Splash.

 “We invited our friends FIDO's Companion, local non-profit dog rescue, to participate as well,” Field said. “There will be a raffle table with awesome raffle baskets and both Love-A-Stray and FIDO's Companion will have adoption booths at the event.”

This year includes an official "scooper," Northern Ohio Pet Butler has donated its services to assist with pet waste clean up. 

“We also have local dog trainers to help manage the dog crowd including Versatile K9, Key2K9, Lead with Faith, Columbia Dog Training & Komplete K9,” Field said.  

Cost is $8 for one dog, $15 for two and $5 for attendees with no dogs. The event, billed as family friendly, will be on rain or shine. It is sponsored by and
