Avon Lake Patch Celebrates Five-Month Birthday as World Ends

It's all doom and gloom as we live through another doomsday prediction.

May 21: Happy five-month birthday Avon Lake Patch! Goodbye cruel world!

Have you heard? Doomsday is May 21 which coincides with Avon Lake Patch's 5-month birthday. I swear to the end of the earth we have nothing to do with the bad end of that deal. Yeah, I know, you're not believing the doomsday talk either. Still, I’m posting this column before May 21, just in case.

This isn’t the first time the world was about to end. I checked around the Internet (the same Internet that is spreading the word about the end of the world this Saturday), and found dozens of sites that listed hundreds of doomsday dates going back thousands of years.

None of them proved accurate, as proven by this week’s propagation of doomsday stories.

Still, the signs are there. This past winter we suffered through snowstorms, ice storms, power outages and floods (in the middle of February). No need to rehash the “hundred year storms” we endured this spring but as I write this on May 17, the rains are moving east to west, instead of the usual west to east and the Cleveland Indians are in first place.

It’s not looking good.

It’s supposed to continue raining through next week so maybe the end of the world isn’t such a big deal after all. Here’s the seven-day forecast: Rain on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, it's sunshine followed by the end of the world and then more rain on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

If we never make it to the back end of that forecast, it’ll be too bad because the end of the world will ruin our almost half-year birthday party. I'm not sure I'm buying all the world-is-ending/rapture baloney, but  in case the sun doesn't rise on Sunday, I’ll give you the 5-month Avon Lake Patch report card today.

Here’s how we’re doing: At posting time, Avon Lake Patch has published 537 articles(!), has attracted more than 325 Facebook friends and hundreds and hundreds of newsletter subscribers.

We average 10 event postings a day, many of them added by you, our readers. And although Avon Lake Patch started with a bang (as evidenced by the immediate comments, suggestions, story tips and feedback), we’re still growing rapidly with each passing month which makes it a total bummer it all might end this weekend.

Predictions have the world ending just about 6 p.m. on May 21. Which means at 6:01 p.m., if I’m still here on earth, it will be just about time to head out for Saturday night to celebrate. Not that the world didn’t end--but that we’re starting another five months of Avon Lake Patch.

So here’s to the world not ending. See you Sunday.

T.S - It looks like those dirty republicans are at it again. This time they are trying to end the World. I bet Bush set this up when he was in office. If you guys just would have been more receptive to President Obama's Health Care plan instead of dishing out tax rebates to "small Business" the world would not have to end. If you Tea Party Patriots wreck the patch's 5 month birthday we're gonna give all our liberal dollars sick children, schools, the elderly. You guys will be stuck explaining to the casino operators and pharmaceutical CEO's why you have no money they can launder. I'm starting to believe in this less government business.

I am very sad for those who have been following this lie that the rapture will occur on May 21st. Even if they attempt to explain away “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven nor the Son, but only the Father” (Mark 13:32), they cannot explain away that most every Christian, theologian, scholar, and prophet from the first Century until the Nineteenth Century all believed that the church would go through the Great Tribulation and not escape through some secret rapture that would leave the world paralyzed. I pray that they will take a moment and read my book, “Final Warning” because the hour of is His judgment has come. http://www.revelation-truth.org
