Avon Lake Remembers Those Who've Served
How did you commemorate the day? Upload your photos.
With temperatures in the 90s, Memorial Day 2012 certainly proved to be the kickoff to summer, but hundreds in Avon Lake took time out to honor those killed while serving.
An early-morning ceremony at the city cemetery included a prayer and the reading of Avon Lake's dead who served their country.
Following a parade that included veterans, Boy Scouts and of course, a marching band, hundreds gathered at Veterans Memorial Park to hear the names of Avon Lakers killed in action to a speech by Mayor Greg Zilka from the porch of the Folger Home.
Attached is a gallery of photos fro the day's ceremonies and events. Have your own pictures? Sing up and upload them into the gallery.
