Two car accident killed 63-year-old construction worker Sept. 12
UPDATED: 12:28 p.m. Sept. 13 (See bold information)
One of two drivers involved in a two-car accident Wednesday morning is from Avon, according to the Avon Police Department.
A press release issued following the morning accident that shut I-90 down for 5 hours and claimed the life of a construction worker, said Nathan Reese, 34, of Avon was driving a 2008 Honda Odyssey involved in the incident.
Anthony J. Rose Jr. 50, of Breckville was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty, also involved in the accident, which is still under investigation. An earlier press release listed the driver of that vehicle as Rose's brother, Michael Rose, 46 of Brecksville.
Michael Rose reportedly went to the scene to help his brother after the accident.
According to a police report, at 9:12 a.m. the Avon Police received a call of a motor vehicle accident in the construction zone near I-90 and Nagel Road, where a new interchange is being worked on.
A 63-year-old construction worker, whose name was not released by Wednesday evening, was struck by one of the vehicles. The injured worker was transported by the fire department to the Avon Emergency Care Center where he was later pronounced dead.
I-90 westbound was shut down from the Crocker Road exit to the SR 83 exit for five hours, opening again at 2:15 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation.

It was nice to see that EVERYONE that was driving this morning slowed down well before that bridge to at least 50 mph. Too bad it took the death of a construction worker to make people realize how careful we need to be in these construction sites. The speed limit needs to be lowered in this area.

Condolences to the family of the worker.
I found it more than Objectionable that the Sun Sentinel ran the headlines on the day after the accident say "I-90 project is going smoothly" I do not believe the could not have pulled that headline in the time available, and I would be "beyond words" if that were my husband or dad and I woke up and read those headlines the next day on the local paper.
Am I the only one that finds this beyond poor taste?

I noticed that too and also thought it was poor timing. If it was my newspaper, I would have moved heaven and earth to stop that from being printed.

I too noticed that and thought it was in poor taste considering what had happened.

Dave, in fairness to the competition, some of the weeklies do go to print well before they arrive on the stands/homes. Sometimes it is too late to pull the edition.

The Sun Sentinal will make up for it in the next edition. That's why I like the Patch. Always up to the minute, fresh, and factual news.

Thanks Lori, It just seemed in very poor taste. But if they indeed print a day before, I hope they called the family personally and apologised in advance.
Thanks Lori.
