Avon Local School Districts and Avon Lake schools are closed.
Superintendent Michael Laub made the call just after 10 p.m. and Avon Lake Schools began making reverse phone calls to parents at the same time.
Law enforcement officials are also requesting people stay inside and off the roads as the storm worsens.
