Bring Your Middle School Levy Questions to Forum

Two school levies up for March 6 vote

Avon has two school issues to vote on in the March 6 primary election.

The $32-million bond issue to build a new middle school is one, and a renewal operating levy is the other.

Do you have questions about them? Are you unconvinced either for or against a new middle school? You have a chance to get your questions answered and your concerns heard.

The first of two public forums to discuss the issues will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Avon Middle School.

The middle school bond issue is for $32 million over 32 years, at 2.25 mills. It would cost a homeowner an additional $38.29 per year for every $100,000 in home valuation.

The renewal levy is two levies combined into one. The levy will be for $2.5 million at 3.21 mills, for 10 years. There would be no additional cost to homeowners.

What would you want board members and levy supporters to address? Share your questions and concerns in the comments and we'll take them to the forum.
