Cleveland Pops Perform in Front of Record Attendance At ALHS
Concert is most successful in 5 years.
A full house turned out for this year’s Cleveland Pops holiday concert at Avon Lake High School, making it one of the most successful Pops’ show presented at the school’s Performing Arts Center.
The annual show is hosted by the Avon-Avon Lake Rotary Club.
“Just under 700 people attended,” club treasurer Frank Krepansky said. “And this was our most successful show in the last five years. We expect to net around $7,000 for our scholarship fund and other student and local Rotary projects.”
The performance was led by Cleveland Pops director Carl Topilow, who took some time out for a fun photo with Bill Zurkey, who led the Avon Lake High School Chorale and Merples, who also performed with the Pops.
Attendees were treated to Christmas music by the Avon Chamber orchestra in the lobby prior to the show, which was new this year.

It was a wonderful night!! Next year is in our plans for sure. The Murples were fantastic as well as Carl Topilow's additions.
Also disapointed that not a word was mentioned here for the performance by the Avon Lake High School Chorale (no credit?) they were SO good.
And as the article above points out.... "took some time out for a fun photo with" ???
