Avon mayor Jim Smith said a potential enterprise zone agreement with Custom Culinary is a step towards the company expanding in Avon.
The matter was discussed first in a public hearing, then in a work session of Avon City Council Monday night.
The proposed agreement would give the company a 50 percent tax abatement for ten years. The company had originally asked for a 75 percent abatement over eight years, Smith said.
Council will take up the matter at its regular meeting on Nov. 28.
Custom Culinary makes bases, soups and sauces for the food service industry.

I do not feel it is that important to expand business into Avon to give a tax abatement AT ALL....while the residents pay higher taxes to improve the schools & they have cut out busing for the HS...all field trips and then other companies whis to expand into Avon free of charge? There is plenty of business in Avon already.
