Council Wraps Up Some Nagel Interchange Work

Another step closer to work starting on the interchange

Avon's city council passed three resolutions and three ordinances pertaining to the at Monday's meeting at .

The resolutions were declaring necessity to improve the city by building the interchange, and declaring necessity for sanitary sewer and water line work in the area. The ordinances were determining to proceed with the project, and the sanitary sewer and water line work.

This work had to wait until the Richard E. Jacobs Group officially submitted a petition to receive a special assessment for financing their one-third share of the project, explained city law director John Gasior.

"The (financing agreement approved last week) needed to be done, then the petition submitted," Gasior explained. "We had to have the method and means of payment set before we could proceed (with the resolutions and ordinances)."

  • Mary Berges was appointed as the French Creek Development Association representative to the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
  • Ward 4 councilman Daniel Urban was congratulated by all council members on the birth of his first child. Urban's wife, Kristine, gave birth to daughter Gwendolyn Reese Urban on June 18.
  • Because of next Monday's Fourth of July holiday, council will meet at 7:30 p.m. July 5.
