Eagles Prepare for State FInals with Pep Rally
Avon playing for state Division II football title Friday night
It Championship Day in Avon!
The Avon Eagles play Trotwood-Madison at 7 p.m. tonight at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon for the OHSAA Division II state football championship.
A spirited pep rally Thursday night at Avon Stadium helped fire up the team. Coach Mike Elder, team captain Tyler Lance and Avon mayor Jim Smith were among the speakers. The cheerleaders led the crowd in cheers, and the marching band performed.
Let us know how you feel about the game! Vote in our poll below and share your Eagle pride in the comments.
Tickets are still available, athletic director Erich Frombach said. They will be on sale at the high school from 8 a.m. until noon for $8. After that, you have to buy them at the gate for $10.
The team leaves Avon Middle School at 1 p.m. The bus will go north on Stoney Ridge Road then turn right to head east on Detroit Road. It will then turn right to go south on Nagel Road to get to the Ohio Turnpike. The community is encouraged to show up along the route to cheer the team on.
