Event Raises Almost $60,000 For CRS

Diamond necklace nets $6,000 to help area's needy.

Community Resource Services 23rd Annual CRS Charity Ball brought in $57,000 for the organization, a 14 percent increase over last year's event.

CRS spokesperson Pam Ohradzansky, who helped organize the event held Jan. 28 at La Centre in Westlake said 318 guests attended.

The event featured a sit down dinner, open bar and live music from the band, Midtown and featured live and silent auctions, raffles, sideboards and a successful "Wine Pull" sponsored by Heidelberg Distributing Company and Constellation Wines.

Funds were raised through several outlets.

“The jewelry raffle featuring a Hearts On Fire Diamond Pendant donated by Peter & Co. Jewelers raised approximately $6,000,” Ohradzansky said.

The Charity Ball is the biggest fund raiser for CRS. This year’s major sponsor was GenOn. One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly towards supporting the CRS mission, which is to diminish the effects of poverty in Avon and Avon Lake.

“We provide needs based assistance and individualized resource and referral services in a compassionate and confidential manner,” Ohradzansky said.
