FirstEnergy: Power Could Be Out Through Sunday
Make preparations for possibility of no power through Sunday

FirstEnergy Representative Mark Durbin said that Avon Lake was one of the hardest hit communities in Northeast Ohio following Monday's storm and his company’s goal was to have most power restored by Saturday morning or 6 p.m. on Sunday.
More than 5,000 customers lost power in Avon Lake.
“Our goal is the weekend if not sooner,” Durbin said. “We’re trying to refine restoration.”
A notation on FirstEnergy's "storm restoration" page said the majority of Lorain County customers are "expected to be restored by noon on Friday, November 2."
Some areas of Avon Lake have already been restored and Durbin credited that to an area that crews could get to and get the most customers up and running.
He said crews are scattered throughout Northeast Ohio and there was no set plan to get one community restored over another, but the company would devote workers where the most restoration is possible.
That means a pocket in Strongsville may see power restored before moving on to another area, if that restoration means more people with power than, say, Avon Lake.
“That’s our goal,” he said of the weekend restoration “There may still be an isolated case or two that is longer. We don’t want to be locked into a timeframe.”
He said the wind combined with the rain was especially problematic and the storm was "serious."
“The wind blows the tree and the limbs, but the rain saturation caused the ground to soften for trees to fall over,” he said.
Residents should make preparations for the possibility of being without power through the weekend.

Avon Lake one of the hardest hit but Strongville may get it first.... Nice contradiction. If Avon Lake has the most outages in Lorain County then there must bea prettybig pocket Mark

It's Wedsnesday Oct 31st and after 46 hours without power the power just came back on WOOWOOOOOOOOOO! Thanks to all of the hard working people that made that possible! I can't believe how wonderful electric power can is, you take it all for granted until you don't have it! Going to buy a better generator now and get a peaceful night sleep tonight.

When First Energy calls me, because I didn't pay their bill, and asks me when I am going to pay their bill I will reply that "I don't want to be locked into a timeframe."

I think that you're absolutely right. I find them to be insulting with their replies.

Bought a generator today. Saw CEI Tuesday morning two streets away. Went to vote and assumed we would be up and running upon our return. Not!!!! Beachwood is the Charlie Brown of streets. Last to beplowed, last for electric restoration, not been repaved for at least 23 years.

Maybe ask a follow-up question about why they sent so many mutual aid crews East and did not plan to take care of their real customers in First Energy's home market? Everyone should consider calling the PUCO and file a complaint; I can understand a few days but this is border-line third world service. Ask the PUCO what they did not mandate service FE local market first? Call (800) 686-PUCO (7826).

No one has even been to Coveland Drive to evaluate the lines and tree down on the street. We've been without power since Monday evening.

My power came on yesterday... had to sleep at a friends Tuesday. How are you people without power keeping warm? Fireplaces? Bundling? Contact the fire department if you need shelter. And finally, someone called Beachwood the "Charlie Brown of streets." A pretty funny comment.

We're on Beck and still have no power. Like most other people the power has been out since Monday night. I think that they should work on the hardest hit areas first and send the most "man" power to those locations. It seems logical to me, but then again, I am the one without power and therefore in need.

Thanks for speaking for us victims who are without power. I emailed him and he responded with " What street do you live on"? I am mostly pissed that there are NO crews working on anything. Now we have to start worrying about our pipes freezing up. Laws do need to change, we are paying customers just like the people on the east coast.
