Five Things: Council, School Board and Wine
Here's what's going on in Avon this week
- Avon city council meets for a work session at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. Items on the agenda include a resolution on tax rate revisions. A special meeting to vote on buying property, which will be discussed in the special meeting, will follow the work session.
- If it's October, it's clambake time. Saturday, there's a very special clambake atTwo Bucks. Klambake for Keely is a benefit for Keeley Imel, an 18-year-old with brain cancer. The menu includes roast chicken, corn on the cob, red-skin potatoes, clam chowder, one dozen clams, pumpkin pie, domestic beers and well drinks. Admission is $40.
- Enjoy good wine and food for a good cause at L'Amour du Vin, a fundraiser by EMH for the Arthritis Foundation, at 6 p.m. Thursday at Avon Oaks Country Club. Tickets are $60 general admission and $90 for VIP access.
- Have fun browsing for bargains at the Avon United Methodist Church Rummage Sale on Friday and Saturday. Decorative and household items, clothing, toys, tools, furniture and miscellaneous items will be for sale. Soups, sandwiches, baked goods and coffee will be for sale, too.
- The Avon Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the media center at Heritage North Elementary School.
