Future Looks Bright for Avon Lake Boys Basketball Team
The on-court accomplishments of the junior varsity team suggest good days lie ahead for the high school program.
The future looks bright for the Avon Lake Shoremen boys' basketball team, especially in light of its junior varsity successes this past season.
"The first half of the season saw the young Shoremen start out 5-5 as they experienced growing pains adapting to each other and the JV experience; however, the boys caught their wind in the second half going 8-4, including a very exciting game at the “Q” where they fell to a half-second buzzer-beater by Strongsville," according to Avon Lake High School Athletic Department press release.
The Shoremen finished in second place at 13-9, with a 9-4 record in the Southwest Conference (SWC).
Kevin Fitch, who willed his team to victory with an up-tempo offense coupled with a high-pressure defense, was pleased with the respectable finish.

Is 13 and 9 promising? Add a collapse by the Varsity who was up 14 entering the 4th in another opening playoff loss, and the freshman team that dribbles with their heads down it looks like more of the same. Thank god for Shoremen Football.
