George L. Miller, age 100, formally of Avon, OH, passed away on July 11, 2012 in Lancaster, Ohio.
He was born on June 24, 1912 in Avon. George worked for General Industries Corp. as a foreman for 41 years before retiring.
He was a life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avon and enjoyed raising Shetland ponies, breeding birds and other exotic animals.
He was a friend and neighbor to everyone he met.
On June 24, Mayor Jim Smith issued a Proclamation in support of George Miller for "outstanding significance and to honor special achievements."
George was preceded in death by his first wife Helen (nee McIntire) in 1977 and second wife Mary Louise (nee Lescher) in 1988. He was also preceded in death by his parents George and Anna (nee Sorg), and brothers Richard, Walter, and Raymond "Mutt". He is survived by his sons George E. Miller of Amarillo ,TX., Gerald (Ruth) of Carroll, OH, stepsons Jim Marsh (Sandy) of Avon, OH and Greg (Betsy) Marsh of Renton, WA, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd. Avon, on Monday July 16, 2012 from 9 a.m. until time of 11 a.m. followed by a Mass at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Avon.
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
