Helen & Kal's Taking Spring Break

Detroit Road restaurant will be closed for a little less than two weeks

 

Looking for a chicken paprikash fix? Get it soon, or you're out of luck until May.

Helen & Kal's, the Detroit Road restaurant specializing in comfort food and Hungarian classics like the aforementioned chicken paprikash and goulash, is closing from April 22 through May 3.

Owner Kal Birkas said he and his family are taking their annual spring vacation.

chicken paprikash is my most favorite meal!!! My mother made it for my birthday every year. When she past away, my sister framed the recipe (my mother's handwriting) and it's hanging in my kitchen.
When we first moved to Avon, we stopped at Helen & Kal's because we heard they have great chicken paprikash. They do!! Almost as good as my mom's. ;-)
They have also had a booth at the Duct Tape festival selling chicken paprikash. If you've never tried it, you should!!!

I used to like the chicken teriyaki, but I will not return after watching the waitress ( a couple of weeks ago) put a basket of bread in the window (after it had been on the table next to us) only to see the man in the window put them back in the bread bag. I guess they re-use their bread.
