Ida M. Verga, Former Westlake High Teacher

Mrs. Verga was an Avon Lake resident and member of Holy Spirit Parish.

Ida M. Verga, 80 of Avon Lake passed away in her home on July 4, 2012.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1931 in Sidney, Ohio.

A member of the Bowling Green University’s Class of 1953, Ida went on to teach at where she met her husband, Lawrence.

When Ida was younger she enjoyed playing tennis and swimming. In later years she enjoyed raising her family, playing bridge and being a member of Gamma Rho and in Avon Lake.

She is survived by her children, Lawrence of Hilliard, OH; Thomas (Daryl) of Lakewood; Paul (Gail) of New York City; Jeanne Kostelnik of Avon Lake and Carolyn Staskiewicz (Sean) of Dublin, OH; eight grandsons, Joe (Lauren), Cal, Matt, Dale, Lucas, Paul (Kerri), Jackson and Clay; two great-grandsons, Aiden and Mason; brother Rev. Edmund Hussey of Hilliard; Frank Hussey of Columbus; and Joseph Hussey (Lee) of Powell, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, parents Millard Hussey and Ida (Ernst), and sister Mary Winner.

A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Road, Avon Lake on Saturday, July 21, at 10 a.m. The Rev. James H. Beatty will officiate.
