Booster president Mary Bilancini said that the event was one way that the fans could show their appreciation to the players and also help raise money for basic necessities while on the road.

“They (the players) do not make much money, so we try to hold events such as this to help raise funds to cover their expenses. That way they don’t have to spend what little money they do make,” said Bilancini. “Sometimes they have really long bus rides to games, so we try to provide them with snacks and drinks for the trip. And after games we try to provide them with well-balanced meals, rather than see them eat old concessions from the parks,” she added.
