Work on the next phase of the Palmer development off Detroit Road just west of Jaycox Road will have Detroit Road down to a single lane during the nights for the next several weeks.

City engineer Robert Knopf said that sewer and drainage work at the development is necessitating the closure, which us set to begin Tuesday night.

Detroit Road will be down to a single lane from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the next three to four weeks. A blinking red light will be set up at the construction site to control traffic, Knopf said.

There will be no lane closures on Black Friday so traffic to shopping areas like Avon Commons will not be affected.

Knopf said that approximately 20 homes are being built in this phase of the development.
