Large Turtle Hit By Car, Shot By Police
Injured turtle was on treelawn by Case and Detroit roads.
It was an especially bad day for a large turtle in Avon, when it was first hit by a car and then shot three times by the police.
On Aug. 28, received a call from a man at 7:50 a.m. advising them of a large, injured turtle at the corner of Case and Detroit roads.

“It was struck by a car and severely injured,” Avon Police Chief Richard Bosley said by email.
He added the caller reported the turtle, in the tree lawn, was about 16 inches in diameter.

“The turtle was shot three times (by police),” he said.
The turtle’s remains were then removed by the Avon service department.
