Man Scammed After Walmart Gift Card Bought Had $0 balance.
Missing student, truck stuck on closed road also in this week's blotters
A May 30, a man said a couple sold him a gift card at Walmart in Avon that had a $0 balance. The man reported a 6-foot tall white man in his early 20s with short blond hair with a petite white, brunette female sold him the card.
Security footage showed the pair running from the store and leaving the parking lot in a white 4-door vehicle. Avon police reportedly have the names of two suspected. If arrested, they will be charged with theft by deception.

Missing Avon Middle School Student Not Lost in Sheffield
An Avon Middle School employee asked police to conduct a welfare check on a student who had not shown up for a week during the end of the year. Police went to the students house and learned from a relative the child moved to the Sheffield area at the beginning of May.
DETOUR! Sign Ignored, Truck Stuck on Lear
On May 31, a trucker decided to head northbound on Lear Road despite the road being closed. No surprise, he became stuck and called for assistance. Police helped the trucker get unstuck, advised him of the proper truck route, and sent him on his way.

Well, duh. Why would you buy a gift card from someone you don't know in the middle of a parking lot? Common sense folks, at the very least if you decide to do this, go inside with the people and have it checked for a balance.
