Miss America, Lots of Creativity Showcased in Duct Tape Parade

Community turns out for one of the big events of the Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival

On Saturday, hundreds lined the streets of Avon to show their love for duct tape and marvel in the sights and sounds of the annual event sponsored by ShurTech and the Duck Brand duct tape.

With the theme of “Real Fans Stick Together,” many participants created their own versions of the theme-displayed in floats- strictly out of duct tape.

From back yard barbecues to NASCAR racing, the creations of their imaginations provided many visual delights for those in attendance.

Grand Marshal, Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan, local organizations such as Lorain County Community College and  Avon Patch, along with Avon Lake Patch and Westlake Patch, also participated in the day’s event.

Children and adults alike had a good time not only watching the parade, but also collecting the goodies that were given out by parade participants, including candy, frozen ice pops, and Mardi Gras beads.
