National Pie Day: What is Your Favorite Pie?
Vote in our poll and share pie memories and recipes in the comments
Today is a holiday many food lovers would enjoy celebrating.
It's National Pie Day!
The American Pie Council created the day to celebrate the heritage of this classic American dessert. It offers suggestions for marking the day, like bringing a pie to your local police or fire departments to show your appreciation for their service, bringing a pie to work, or making pie with your kids.
And, of course, you can just eat pie.
Let's talk pie. Vote in our poll for your favorite pie. If your favorite isn't there, share it in the comments. Also share your favorite pie-related memories, like your grandmother's mincemeat pie at Christmas, or your favorite pie recipes.

A good pizza pie, however, is a whole 'nother story.

Homemade pie's not that bad, depending on how you bake. It's one of my favorite things to make from scratch. Especially apple!

I like Amanda's photo—I can bake, but the results are rarely that pretty!

Thanks Rachel! I don't like pie, but I like to bake them. Those who ate it said it was tasty.

Rob, I've tried Osman's bakery before. I wrote the story when they reopened in Tallmadge in 2008: http://www.tallmadgeexpress.com/news/article/3199611. I guess they moved from that location though: http://www.tallmadgeexpress.com/news/article/4952912

Mama Jo's out of Amherst makes a banana split pie. It's a special item, only available a couple of times a year. My mother-in-law loved those, and would always ask me to check to see if they were in the stores. She would be so happy when we brought one down for her.

Blueberry, or cherry, depending on the mood. Then again banana cream pie is yum. And I thought I was a cake person.

Only 7 out of 33 for pecan? Guess it's an acquired taste.
