Avon Lake Parking, Event Info for July 3 Fireworks
Two performances precede fireworks Tuesday night.
The city will host fireworks with some pre-fireworks entertainment on Tuesday, July 3 at Weiss Field starting at 6:30 p.m. when the Post 211 will kick off the evening with a Presentation of Colors.
Following is a performance by Just Us, featuring Lorain County Judge Jim Miraldi (get it?). Just Us forwards proceeds from performances to Genesis House Domestic Violence Center in Lorain.
The performance will be followed by local band Ovation, who performs annually at the CRS Charity Ball and at Legacy Restaurant.
Fireworks will begin at about 9:45 p.m.
The Avon Lake Baseball Federation and the Folger Home will have food for sale and CRS will be giving away glow-in-the-dark bracelets for a donation.
CRS will also be raffling off a wheelbarrow full of tools.
Mayor Greg Zilka said due to its location at Weiss Field, the fireworks should be visible throughout the city.
Parking for Fireworks
Avon Lake Police Lt. Duane Streator said both parking lots at Weiss Field will be open. Additional parking will be available at nearby businesses that have given permission and on street parking in the Waterside South development.
When the parking lots at Weiss Field become full there will be no traffic permitted on Webber Road between Moore and Crossings Way.
Parking will not be permitted on Moore Road, Webber Road, the east side Crossings Way between Webber and Ambleside or at any nearby business that has been barricaded off.
After the fireworks, all traffic from the parking lots at Weiss will be directed to go eastbound on Webber Road. Also, any traffic that is southbound on Crossings Way will be directed eastbound on Webber Road.

If it is raining like this tonight, the show will be canceled. However, the rains are expected to stop and as Kimber noted, looks like the rains are providing a nice anti-fire drenching.
