Any word on if the schools that are closed today have gotten power yet?

Leslie, we'll get an update this afternoon. I know Avon Lake was waiting until late afternoon yesterday in hopes some schools would get power back on. Apparently, only half did.

Still no power @ 2 pm Wednesday on Parkwood. Reverse 911 won't come thru if there's no power to the home!

I love that FirstEnergy sent, prior to the storm hitting Ohio, a lot of crews East for mutual aid...too bad they did not plan to restore power here at home first where their rate payers live!?

I have 2 babies and 2- 3 year olds living in my home in the 45's and they are wearing snowsuits in the house. Perhaps the city should think about setting up a shelter for people in the high school instead of worrying about the kids having school. Not all of us can afford to go to a hotel. Yet we can go to the old firehouse for snacks and a place to keep warm for a couple of hours.

I have 2 babies and 2-3 year olds in my house walking around in snowsuits because its colder inside then it is outside. Maybe the city should think about putting together a temp. shelter for people (at the high school) with young children and older people, instead of giving people a place where they can warm up and have a snack. I know I haven't had electric since Monday night. Its not easy keeping 3 year olds warm and happy when they are afraid of the dark.

We are still out entirely on Belle...I have only seen one truck since Monday. Ridiculous!!!

Leslie, you might try Paws By the Lake in Avon Lake. They will board for a few hours. The cost is $15, I believe, but give them a call. They are in our directory. Dog need to be vaccinated.

CORRECTION: On Avon Lake's Facebook page it states "Towne Center Community
Campus @ Main Street will have beds available, for any residents that need a place to stay, until their power is back on." Towne Center is stating they are NOT offering this service.

I just got off the phone with PUCO who knows nothing at all. I have a call in to our mayor to see what he knows; his office, while very understanding has no information either. Seems we are all in the dark; pun intended. Lori, can you find out ANYTHING...

Our power has been out since monday night (corner of parkwood and electric.)
Im afraid it's not going to be on any time soon. We would go stay at my moms but two of my kids had school today and two didn't.

We live in building 4 at Coachmans Trail and we've been without power since Monday night around 11. I have pics of two trees down there. I have seen a Wow cable truck but no First Energy trucks..I have a 3rd grader at Westview. This is an extremely difficult week!!

There were a lot of good people out yesterday helping their neighbors in Avon Lake. They were pumping water out of folks basements, getting generators hooked up, etc. To the helping hands from Quail Hollow (Stark, Thomas, Francy, Eichler) - I know there are a lot of thankful people for your generous work. There is still hope for humanity. Thanks guys.

Power back on at my house on Berkshire at 7:40 pm this evening. We lost power on Tuesday at 11:40 am. Generator kept the food cold and the sump pump working, but no heat and 59 degrees in the house was a little hard to take.

While I understand this was a catastrophic event with widespread effects, I do not understand why a great portion of Ohio has been left to fend for itself. Ohio was projected to experience problems due this storm yet a great deal of our crew was sent to the East coast. I am all for helping others but this is absurd. Who thought of this plan? And where is our Mayor and Governor? While other states declared states of emergency, Ohio suffers. I am tired of being hostage to First Energy. This is not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last unless I say enough enough and move. Want us to vote for levys - takes more a school system and ems to make me want to stay.

Some politicains believe the govt should not step in and tell any company how to run their business under any circumstance. I sure hope you remember who they are,when you vote.

Power back on from Lear road up to Brunswick on lake road. Also on in the west winds and on cove and highland. Lear road dark from giant to lake with both schools dark.

I live on Tomahawk in the 45s and have not seen one truck. Our power went out at 820 Monday night and its a cool 49 degrees in my house. How are we expected to function in this day and age without power for a week? I have 4 kids under age 8 and I've called about a downed tree behind me on the neighbors property and lines laying in my backyard. No one has called or assessed the situation and I'm rather upset to say the least. Anyone heard any updates?

Hecticpeace, FYI when I went to work this morning I saw for the first time, power trucks everywhere. On Lake, on Lear, Walker, etc. hopefully not much longer...
