Short School Week, Bubba's Q and Cheerleading: Five Things

A busy week in Avon

  1. Former NFL player Al "Bubba" Baker will celebrate seven years of Bubba's Q, his Avon barbecue joint, with a party on Monday night. It is also a celebration of his signature "D-Boned" ribs and his barbecue sauces being sold at Heinen's grocery stores starting this week.
  2. Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and banks, schools and some government offices are closed. This week's Avon City Council work session is moved to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. What will be closed? Find out here
  3. Students in Avon Local Schools have a nice, short week. In addition to there being no school on Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, there is also no school on Friday due to a teacher in-service day.
  4. Are you a Lake Erie Crushers fan? Join the Crushers Booster Club at their annual Chili Dinner/Membership Drive on Friday.
  5. Is there a cheerleader in your family? He or she could learn a lot as Ohio State University coaches come to Tumbles & Cheers for a clinic on Saturday. Participants can not only learn new moves, but also about what it takes to cheer at the college level. The clinic is open to cheerleaders 12 and older. Admission is $60 and registration can be done at the Tumbles & Cheers website.
What are you looking forward to this week? Tell us in the comments.
