Small Group Turns Out for Tea Party Express Bus Tour
The short rally encouraged people to focus on Election Day and the upcoming Senate races.
The Tea Party Express rolled into Brecksville Friday evening—and departed soon after with little fanfare. The tour’s Ohio location had been up in the air until Friday morning, and the short notice led to a small crowd.
About 30 people had gathered in the city’s municipal parking lot by the time the rally began around 5:25 p.m.
Members of the audience mentioned the short notice, and many said they came out because they want change in the government.
Don Lastoria, owner of the BP gas station in Brecksville, said the country is “really upside down right now.” As a small business owner, taxes are making it difficult for him to keep going. Lastoria said he wants to look at different sides of both parties.
“We definitely need change,” said Katie Lastoria, his wife.
Amy Kremer, chair of the Tea Party Express, addressed the group first and apologized for the confusion. She asked the audience to not get discouraged, repeating that the Tea Party is “not dead.” The Tea Party shouldn’t be judged by the number of people at rallies, Kremer said.
“Judge us by what happens on Election Day,” she said.
The Tea Party Express’ “Restoring the American Dream” bus tour is focused on the upcoming Senate races and putting power in back in the hands of the states and the people, she said. The tour began Friday morning in Cranberry, Pennsylvania, where hundreds turned out to hear the group’s message and see them endorse Senate candidate Tom Smith.
The Tea Party Express has already endorsed Senate candidate Josh Mandel, who was originally scheduled to appear at the group’s Ohio stop, said spokesperson Taylor Budowich. Mandel had to cancel the Canfield, Ohio, event, which led to the scramble for a new location.
“On such short notice, these things happen,” he said.
While the cancellation was a bit disappointing, Budowich said local groups showed a lot of enthusiasm in helping the Tea Party Express find a new location.
After Kremer spoke, Lloyd Marcus and Diana Nagy entertained the group with a few songs. The rally was done within 20 minutes.

Dear ms. Kremer. We will judge you on the number of people at your rallies, and on election day. But your final judgement day will be the most important. Glad to see the number of your cult members are declining. Mr lastoria - your political affiliations may hurt your business worse than the tax man. I wont fill up my tank at a station owned by a tea partier. You make it easy for me to go to shell. Glad to see that the whole rally effected less people than a fart. 30 people there for 20 minutes.

Dear T. Parte-
Your comment reminds me of those people who suddenly stopped listening to Bruce Springsteen because he backed Obama. So you won't buy gas at BP, only Shell. Well, I guess you'll be staying home for the next 3 months, since they tore the Shell station down. Once the new station is built, we'll see you mid-summer!

Actually it's also the middle and mostly-right that think the tea party is a group of self-serving idiots.
And, yes, we do know exactly what we're doing--trying to keep the country belonging to the people instead of the people belonging to the country (under the tea party's leadership, of course), like the tea party wants.

actually baiting the left and right. They love to call names and innuendo's, Then screams like crazy when its reversed. Love the left as they soon will disappear. They love to kill there young in the name of freedom of choice. The far right will take a little longer as common thinking on issues is a learning process. Those that dont will die of old age with there poison in them. But then thats what it is all about is it not. Being able to think different and still be free. and agree to totaly disagree

Hey folks, how about we debate the issue at hand -- not call each other names.
Perhaps the organization got low participation because the event was last minute. Or maybe their members don't use Twitter -- which is how we found out about the event.

All, my comment is aimed at encouraging readers to debate the issue, not beat each other up. I'm not involved with the organization in the article and am not interested in making excuses for anybody. My interest here is keeping the debate from deteriorating into name calling and personal attacks -- both of which violate our terms of use.

Earl's comments tweaked me to respond. Tea partiers, like their namesakes, are against giving their money to a government who wastes it. Food stamps for strip bars, Solyndra's bundler give-away, conferences in Vegas, etc, etc. No one should foot the bill because its a load of Truman's manure. If its national defense to keep my kids from being blown up, then spend away. If not, get a leftist billionaire to become a philanthropist.

Mr. Holley,
Please use some form of punctuation and grammar. Thank you.
I, for one, and completely confused as to the demand to "discuss the issues". Ms. McCafferty was simply reporting a neighborhood event, that is an issue? You might disagree with the Tea Party and whatever it is standing for these days (Birth Certificates for Presidents? Poor, Unemployed people wanting the rich to have bigger tax breaks?) but they have the right to assemble and say what they'd like. I really don't see the issue.

I do not disagree with the T-.party. Do disagree with the far left and right. I also do love to ring the bells of the far left and right. So predictable. Can not attack the issue so goes to personal attacks. Which is fine. Arabs have a saying that ] [ and this goes for the bone headed left and knot headed right. ] They have lives like fleas. Never doing anything except living off the life blood of others. There thinking and barking is like the pimple on a flees behind. Nothing except for the flea. Personally I think that the left is the worst. O they can spell in English, and cross the T's and sentence structure, But never do or add any thing to the goodness of human kind. There more like a blister on the heal of man kind. The only problem I have with the T party is that many do not know where they are located to join. They are [the T party] the true America to my thinking,

Good freaking Lord. Stop your incessant whining.
What credentials do you hold that makes you remotely qualified to criticize an article? What about your education? Your experience?
That's what I thought. Nadda. Nothing. None. Not a damn thing. So, shut up already and stop acting like you know what in the hell you're talking about.
This article was NOT a slam. This article had nothing to do with the "other rallies where thousands attended." It had to do with a LOCAL rally -- in Brecksville -- where just over 2-dozen people showed up. The entire article was FACTUAL (which whiny, know-nothings like you know nothing about). And it originated in the Brecksville Patch, where the event was located. So, mentioning other rallies would have NO relevance whatsoever. When other rallies have been held locally (i.e. Cuyahoga Falls just a couple of weeks ago), they're covered in the local Patch.
People like you who criticize an article because YOU do not agree with it only further show you don't have a clue what you're talking about.
How would you like it if we came and busted your hump because you didn't put the pickles on the bun the right way? Yeah, I didn't think you'd appreciate it.
So, take your Metamucil, get your Fruit Of the Looms out of the wad they're obviously in, shut the hell up and get to bed, Crankshaft.

Jack = jack =JACK, More than likely editors will not let this through as they have not in the past when answering the far left. Its fun to ring your bell on the left. The article was a left'est propaganda article. Like it or not. Tough talk no. Why are you so angry. Its not my fault your real father skipped and ran. Of course you all ways was a few short cards on a full deck. I see time has not improved you. As to my med's from the drug store for senile prevention. Well at least I have reached that age. You asked for my credit's. Well I speak 5 language and spell and write not to well in any. Have been around the world several times. Have more medals, ribbons and citations than you have teeth. Of course judging from your anger that may not be to many. Lets say teeth of average person. Ran for Congress once. and state assembly 3 times. I have been in and lived in every state in the Union except Alaska. Have started and still have 3 thriving business's. Have ate with kings, presidents, congress and senators, Bums, Those on the far left and on far right. Do not always agree but will listen and understand they have the right to there ideas. Never ask them or tell them to shut up. That's a Neo Nazi way of doing things, I fully well recognize left or right propaganda when I see it. With The T party again, Personaly do not agree on every thing. [ but then not a party man} Unlike the party boys and I mean boys who are full of poison. Jack this is like shooting a unarmed man. So will leave you be. How ever remember Girl scout awards and boy scout awards don't count. As a award for being on time or not having a accident at work. All though I have the highest regards for both scout Org . But to see your screaming shut up like a girl. stomping your feet and jumping up and down. You should watch your blood pressure. As to being in fantasy land for most of your far left it may seem so as you have never been any where or done any thing to help man kind. I forgot to mention We. wife and I have helped build a school in Cambodia, and Thai Land, and are still supporting it. We also. Have had many foreign exchange students from all over the world . Have 7 adopted children from Korea, Japan, Thai Land, Viet Nam, to France. to name a few. What you care about and think is por nada. Back to article. It was written well. Did not care for the left est negative way but that's me. Great thing about our country is we can have both and still live to gather. But then there is always the exception as in your case. One more thing, I did vote for O bummer but never again. Yep I was

Thanks Susan! Really tired of frequent offenders thinking the rules don't apply to them. This forum isn't a radio talk show where the host(poster) is free to say anything he wants. If they want to slam, degrade, and belittle people that don't agree with them, let the set up their own blog, and get their own readers. There are some regular offenders who seems to know everything about every topic and every community, and have no qualms about what they say, or who they call what. They are just writring to incite and insult. Thanks again!
