The Tea Party "express" is running out of steam. By their own actions in the Senate and in Governor's mansions, they have shown the American people that they are willing to "hostage" their own constituents in order to bully through what they want. The American people are discovering that they don't like this very much.

Ironically, Allyson, we in the TEA Party are finding more people, even more solidarity with Americans who do understand the real message of the movement: There's no bullying, just the steady beat of Americans who have been held "hostage" for lo these many years, by the people in government, the people we trusted to do the right thing by us, the people we trusted to follow the U.S. Constitution and the Ohio Constitution, the people we expected to treat our money as though it was theirs, the people who seemed to have stopped listening to us. You, too, have turned a deaf ear, Allyson, and I can only hope that you will start to hear the Founders voices - as many of us have, and join us in a celebration of what America has always stood for: The liberty and justice for all.

We had several hundred people in the stadium seats on either side of the suites on the second floor. We filled several sections of 500. I laugh because you can believe we are running out of steam, or tea, or energized people, it matters about as much as all the other names we get called. But when Nov. 2012 rolls around, it will be the Tea Party who names the next President.

i was was an anti-tea party person there filming. i was surrounded a few times by some old guys in yellow vests but i was never asked to leave.

dina, youre right! the thing that gets me the most is that when this supposedly "grassroots" movement was exposed to be another koch brothers production, these people went into denial clung onto this thing with an iron grip.

cynthea, the tea party will not be winning anything in 2012. theyve been exposed for what they are: misinformed obstructionists who have a deep seeded hatred for our current president. even the republicans furthest to the right are tired of being held hostage by tea party road blocks. it was an interesting run at best, but its over.

It is unfortunate that the anti Tea Party people can only demonize and offer personal attacks. Anyone who has reviewed the facts knows that the country is on an unsustainable path. The Tea Party movement is educating people and offering solutions. The people who are informed understand that we need solutions, not attacks.

By the way, your estimate of attendance is way off. Although not the crowd we had hoped for, the attendance was closer to 1200 to 1500. I assume you just don't know how to accurately estimate, and that you are not a biased so called "journalist".

Not bad Domenica, however, I will just let go back to your liberal text book and find a true story. Israel did participate as did many Americans. The fact is you do not live under the crown today because Patriots fought the crown and won. And those same patriots would be considered extremist today.

I would rather live subject to the crown and it's aristocratic rule than see one tea party member on a small town city council. You guys certainly have a right to assemble and have your beliefs about Americas path. But the fact that you compare yourselves to the founding fathers make me thrownup in my mouth every time I read it.

Michael, We don't disagree maybe over covered, however, you know as I do this city, county and nation can not continue to spend what it does not have. You and I can write a check and go to jail, Our lawmakers, Democrat and Republican, have enough guilt to spread around and spend our money not theirs.
The things we ask for is accountable leaders, limited government and individual freedom. To quote a right wing extremist " When government grows liberty shrinks" Thomas Jefferson.

The estimate of numbers for this event sound like the numbers for the million man march. No one really knows.

What "individual freedoms" are the Tea Party folks espousing? The individual freedom to allow private corporations to exploit our resources (natural and human) for their own over-the-top gain, at the expense of those same human beings and then NOT to be taxed on their incomes, and permitted to ship jobs overseas where they can get virtual slave labor? To allow individuals to conceal weapons on their persons and perhaps do the "old West" thing of a gunfight showdown on Main Street in the name of "being safe"? To allow individuals to go hungry, have no home, no job, no hope? Are these the individual rights that the Tea Party embraces and is working to promote? If not, please enlighten me. All I have heard from the Tea Party is how our President isn't a REAL American, his birth certificate is bogus, etc. etc. etc. I ask you who support this psuedo "party" to outline for me, if you can, just what individual rights you mean? Oh, and I have one more question - do ALL of you ALWAYS pay cash for everything you have? Cash for your home? Cash for your car? Cash for school tuition? Do any of you accept "public monies" like Social Security or government school loans? Just curious.

Quite an array of comments. Regardless of political affiliation, we can agree that our government has problems that include corruption and external influences. This is my impression of the tea party. The tea party was created and funded by corporate America (Koch brothers etc.) with the intent on using it to further their riches through a well planed agenda. This agenda includes, among other things; elect radical politicians like gov. Kasich and gov. Walker, eliminate or reduce environmental regulations, break employee unions, reduce minimum wages, and dismantle social programs like Medicare and social security. All these help reduce costs and increase wealth for them further increasing the wealth/income gap in our country. Now there are two kinds of people in this party. Plants that are in to recruit members and incite emotional responses by exploiting things like patriotism. And, those that have been duped by these corporate sponsors. They speak of liberty for all, but they don't mean liberty for a woman to choose or liberty to wed the same sex or liberty to assemble and bargain as union employees. They speak of the constitution, smaller government, less taxes and "job creators". But all I see is small business and labor fighting each other. Our debt is from fighting for freedom and world democracy while providing tax breaks to the rich so they can horde huge corporate profits. Tax breaks and deregulation have only resulted in less jobs.
