Voting Absentee? Mail Your Ballot Today!
Ballots must be postmarked by day before election
If you're voting absentee in this week's election, add something to Monday's to-do list.
Mailing your ballot.
According to the Lorain County Board of Elections, absentee ballots must be postmarked by the day before Election Day. Ohio law, the board says, states that "postmarked" means that it must bear a valid postage cancellation stamp affixed by the U.S. Postal Service.
The Avon Post Office is open at 8 a.m. Monday.
Mailed absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections within 10 days after the election.
You cannot drop off absentee ballots at your local polling station. Mailed ballots may be dropped off in person, but they must be delivered to the Board of Elections, located at 1985 North Ridge Rd., Lorain.
