The second hall-style meeting for issues concerning Ward II hosted by Mayor Greg Zilka is Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Learwood Middle School. The meeting will start at 7 p.m.
A meeting geared for Ward I residents was Feb. 20.
Although the four meeting are broken into wards, residents from any of Avon Lake's four wards can attend.
Residents may attend, ask questions, raise concerns, give kudos or just find out what's going on in their ward. (See attached map to determine what ward you're in.)
In addition to Zilka, Ward II Councilwoman Jennifer Fenderbosch and department heads will be in attendance to give a brief presentation and answer questions. This includes police, fire, service and a representative from the Avon Lake Municipal Utilities.
Zilka brought back the popular ward meetings initially instituted by former mayor Rob Berner.
“It’s an opportunity for department heads and residents to get pointers from each other and share information,” Zilka said.
He previously noted that the idea of a recreation center came out of ward meeting. The concept was eventually placed on a ballot and failed.
Remaining ward meetings are as follows. All meetings will be on Wednesday evenings at the following venues:
- Ward 3: March 6th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Troy Intermediate School
- Ward 4: March 13th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Troy Intermediate School
