Wisconsin Shooting Victims: Fly Flags at Half Staff
The president has issued a proclamation that flags should fly at half staff through sunset on Aug. 10.
President Barack Obama has issued a proclamation that United States flags should be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 to honor the victims of the Wisconsin tragedy.
Avon Lake’s John Shondel, the Sgt.-At-Arms for American Legion Post 211 and a city councilman, issues regular alerts as to when to fly flags at half staff.
“As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless act of violence perpetuated on Aug. 5, 2012 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, President Obama has issued a proclamation for the flag to be displayed at half-staff until Sunset, Aug. 10, 2012,” a press release issued, said.
On Aug. 10, a shooter killed six, injured three and then himself at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek. The shooter was identified today as Wade Michael Page, a 40-year-old Army veteran.
The incident is being treated as an act of domestic terrorism.
The proclamation comes less than three weeks after a similar one was issued for shooting victims in Aurora, CO on July 20.
