Local Cheerleaders Hosting Garage Sale

Ohio Extreme Intensity, an All Star cheerleading team from the Tumbles and Cheers athletic training facility in Avon which recently ranked No. 16 out of 82 teams at The Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando in April, needs your help. The 20-member team is hoping to compete at the NCA All-Star National Championship March 1 and 2, 2014, at the Dallas Convention Center. The cost to attend is approximately $10,000.

To help raise funds, girls ages 14 to 18 from Amherst/South Amherst, Avon, Avon Lake, LaGrange, Milan, Mogadore, North Ridgeville, Rocky River, Sagamore Hills, Vermillion and Westlake will be hosting a Garage Sale on Saturday, September 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 640 Avon Belden Rd./Rt. 83 North in Avon Lake. Ohio Extreme Intensity is requesting that local residents attend. Donations of any kind, large or small, are appreciated. Items can be dropped off beginning Monday, Sept. 9th. Pick up of donated items is available upon request.

Ohio Extreme Intensity also is selling a "Gift Card Calendar" throughout the month of September that also will be available at the Garage Sale. Purchase a calendar for $10 and your name is entered into a drawing to win a Gift Certificate or Prize valued at $25. Here's how it works: In the month of October, each weekday a name will be drawn, and that person will win whichever gift certificate or prize in featured on the calendar that day. Then the name is re-entered into the drawing. A person has multiple chances to win. There are three ways to purchase a calendar, (1) By phone: (440) 937-5591, (2) In Person: Tumbles and Cheers at 1482 Lear Industrial Parkway, across from Petitti's Garden Center off Chester Road in Avon, or (3) Attend the Garage Sale.

"2014 will be a pivotal year for Ohio Extreme Intensity," said Tumbles and Cheers Owner and Intensity Head Coach Heather Zidek. "For eight of our girls, it is their senior year, and the last time in nearly 10 seasons that they will compete together. While our main goal for 2014 is to rank in the 'Top 3' at The Cheerleading Worlds in April (the All Star Cheerleading equivalent to The Olympics which brings together 400 cheer teams from 40 countries) we are first striving to get to Dallas and earn our bid to 'Worlds' at the NCA All-Star National Championship. It's an expensive event to participate in, but it is one that this team will never forget as they will have the opportunity to compete against cheer teams from the across America.  These athletes are working so hard to raise money to make this dream happen, and they could really use the community's help."
