Noah Venesile Benefit Concert Thursday at ALHS

Chorale, Al Cantari, Merples and Men's and Women's Choruses will perform at Avon Lake High School.

The Avon Lake Choral Music Department will hold a benefit concert for Noah Venesile at the Avon Lake High School Performing Arts Center Thursday.

All proceeds from the concert will be given to the Venesile Family in support of Noah’s ongoing rehabilitation as he continues to recover from serious injuries sustained in a Nov. 6 car wreck.

Performing groups include: the Chorale, Merples, Da Cantari Choir, and Men’s and Women’s Chorus.

The concert is open to the public.

Tickets are $5 for adults, and $1 for students and seniors.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Performances

The Chorale ensemble songs will include Charles Theodore Pachelbel’s Magnificat; René Clausen’s All That Hath Life and Breath and Bogoroditse Devo by Sergei Rachmaninoff from the All-Night Vigil (Vespers). The Chorale portion will end with the harmonies of Frank Ticheli’s There Will Be Rest followed by Way Ovah in Beulah Land, by Stacey V. Gibbs.

The Merples will present the music from their Singing Valentines along with a series of acapella pieces including A Mighty Fortress arranged by Carl Mueller, She Walks in Beauty by David Foltz, and I’m Gonna Sing ‘Til the Spirit Moves In My Heart.

Da Cantari will perform Z. Randall Stroope’s beautiful work, Omnia Sol (Let Your Heart be Staid), Psalmo 150 (Psalm 150) by Ernani Aguiar and Handel’s O Sing! Rejoice! from The Choice of Hercules.

Men’s and Women’s Choruses will perform Freedom is Coming, an African Freedom Song, an English folk song, Barbara Allen, and Tanzen und Springen by Hans Leo Hassler. The Men’s Chorus will separately perform an American Folk Song, Cindy  and the Women’s Chorus will perform a rousing traditional spiritual arranged by Earlene Rentz, Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel?
