Double Rainbow, Winter Weather Advisory

Don't be fooled... winter weather advisory in effect tonight and tomorrow.

Patch reader Scott Kennedy sent over this gorgeous photo of a double rainbow, taken around 4 p.m. on Dec. 20.

The photo was taken at the entrance of the Bridgeside subdivision on Walker Road in Avon Lake while temperatures hovered near 50 degrees on Thursday.

Immediately following, the National Weather Service issued this Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 a.m Friday, Dec. 21 to 1 p.m. Saturday:

  • Accumulations... 3 to 6 inches of snow in general with 6 to 10inches possible across northern Trumbull and northern Portage counties.
  • Timing... 4am Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday.
  • Winds... west 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
  • Impacts... accumulating snow is expected Friday through Saturday morning across the area. In addition... strong winds will cause blowing and drifting causing dangerous driving conditions.
  • Temperatures... highs Friday and Saturday in the mid 30s.
  • Visibilities... visibilities will be greatly reduced from snow and blowing snow.
