Obsolete Equipment Sale

Avon Lake Public Library has been “cleaning house” and will hold an Obsolete Equipment Sale Tuesday, Oct. 16 through Thursday, Oct. 18 during regular Library hours 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. This cash-and-carry sale includes furniture, games, computer hardware, keyboards and more.

Local History Art Collection Open House

On Sunday, Oct. 14 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., Avon Lake Public Library is hosting an open house celebrating the newly-restored Avon Lake Local History Art Collection. The collection includes paintings, photographs and primitives of historic Avon Lake. Refreshments compliments of Friends of Avon Lake Public Library.

Jr. Tree House Club – Shake, Shake, Shake

Kids ages 6 and 7 are invited to join the Jr. Tree House Club on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 4 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Create a kazoo and learn to play some songs on it. Registration begins Wednesday, Oct. 10 in DiscoveryWorks or by calling 440.933.7848.

Medicare Open Enrollment

Do you need help understanding Medicare’s Open Enrollment? On Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. OR Thursday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m., a representative from Karsten Bradley Advice Solutions will talk about Medicare and Medicare Part D for 2013 and answer questions you may have. Growing Your Business – Social Media How-To for Your Business

This workshop is FREE and open to all businesses owners who are interested in networking and growing their business. On Thursday, Oct. 18 from 9:15 a.m. – 11 am, learn what is new and what has changed in social media and how to use it to promote your business and increase your revenue.

Teen Read Week

Calling all teens…celebrate Teen Read Week, Oct. 14-20, by reading for the fun of it. Stop by on Tuesday, Oct. 16 between 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. and make a paint chip bookmark. Get “caught” reading in the YA area and receive a special prize.

Red Cross Babysitting Course

Taught by certified Red Cross instructors, this course includes basic instruction in child safety and care, first aid and infant CPR. Classes are Saturdays, Nov. 10 and 17, from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Students ages 11 – 15 are welcome and must be able to attend both sessions. $45 fee includes workbook and first aid kit.
