Heartbroken Family Seeks Lost Dog Weeks After 'Best Friend' Dies

Dog might be looking for companion that died three weeks ago...never spent a day apart.

An Avon Lake family is desperate to find its 9-year-old Pomeranian/Poodle mix they believe may have wandered off in search of her best friend, who died three weeks ago.

The family believes PJ, a 12-pound “PomPoo” was taken from the front of her home on SR 83/Avon Belden Rd. in Avon Lake, between Pin Oak Parkway and Weber Rd. The dog may have wandered too close to the busy road, and a good Samaritan picked her up to keep her out of danger, Barb Worcester, the dog’s owner said.  The family is offering a reward for PJ's safe return with no questions asked.

"This is a very difficult time for our family," said Barb Worcester, dog owner. "Just three weeks ago we had to put our nine-year-old Border Collie, Mojo, to sleep due to kidney cancer. PJ has not been herself since. She was very depressed and sits by the front and back doors watching diligently for Mojo to return.”

Worcester said it’s possible that she wandered too close to SR 83 in hopes of finding her  best friend. The two dogs have never spent a day apart until recently, when Mojo was laid to rest.

"We thank whomever has her, assuming that they were looking out for her safety," Worcester said. "It's time, however, for her to come home. PJ has a special diet and a daily routine that should not be deviated from. Please call us with any information at 440-930-5669.  We are devastated. It's difficult enough losing one pet who has been a beloved part of our family for nine years. Losing two is just too much. Please, whoever has her, bring her home. You will be rewarded for your kindness."

PJ was wearing a pink collar with white paw prints, along with a red flea collar. She does not interact well with strangers.
