Hoops For Hunger Raises $1,600 for CRS

Avon, Avon Lake basketball games bring in cash, food

Hoops for Hunger, a voluntary effort lead by Avon Lake High School senior Molly Disbrow and members of the schools’ Key Club, raised approximately $1,600 for Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services.

Disbrow, and other members of the girls basketball team, presented a check to CRS Director Susan Poole on Jan. 16 during halftime of the Avon-Avon Lake basketball game.

Hoops for Hunger also brought in more than 300 cans of food. Money was raised through donations at the Avon vs. Avon Lake boys and girls basketball games Jan. 15 and 16, as well as through the sale of T-shirts. The group set up collection points around Avon and Avon Lake to bring in donations also.
