Round 2: Check Your Basements as County Remains Under Flood Warning

County under flood warning through 8 p.m.

Reports of flooding…and flooded basements are coming in from around Avon Lake as Lorain County remains under a flood warning.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Flash Flood Warning for  
Huron County in north central Ohio, Lorain County and Erie County until 8 p.m.

Avon Lake Patch began receiving notifications of flooded basements in the city just past 5 p.m. Last month Avon Lake Council discussed using CodeRED to notify residents of potential for flooded basements but no decisions were made to use the system. The discussions came after several inches of rain fell oleading to flooded basements, streets and backyards.

Earlier this month, the Avon Lake Utilities Department held a with residents at the Avon Lake Public Library to explain why storm sewers back up and basements flood. The presentation if you're not busy bailing out.
