Three Avon Roads Re-opening on Dec. 5 Near Interchange

Chester, Just imagine and Nagel roads will re-open as progress continues.

Progress continues on the Nagel Road Interchange project with three more roads opening next Wednesday.

Don Damyanic, Construction Project Manager for the city of Avon, said that at approximately 9 a.m. on Dec. 5, the following roads will re-open to traffic:

  • 1.       Chester Road from Lear Industrial Parkway to Nagel Road.
  • 2.       Just Imagine Drive from Nagel Road to the east project limits.
  • 3.       Nagel Road from Chester Road to the north project limits.

Once re-opened the temporary roadway currently in use will be closed to traffic. The traveling public is urged to travel these areas with caution as new traffic signals and patterns are in place. Nagel Road south of Chester will re-open in the very near future. Until then, motorists are cautioned to obey traffic signs and stay out of areas with “Road Closed” signs as work in these areas is still in progress.

According to Damyanic’s office, paving on the I--90 / Nagel Road interchange is 90 percent complete. The I-90 / Nagel Road interchange is scheduled for final completion in July of 2013, ahead of initial projections.

Several weeks ago the city said with the re-opening of Avon and Nagel Road intersection, progress on the Interchange continues but has been slowed from time to time by the fall rains.

“At this time 90 percent of the project has been surface paved with only the area of Nagel Road north of Chester Road remaining,” a release on the project said. The contractor continues to install safety items such as guard rails and has been finishing striping as weather allows.
