University Hospitals Stress Healthy Eating Habits

UH and Heinen's Team for Family Health Events

Which contains more sugar, a 20-ounce bottle of Pepsi or a small Dairy Queen Snickers Blizzard? 

In celebration of National Nutrition Month, the family health experts at University Hospitals and are holding events to build awareness of nutrition while promoting healthy lifestyles. 

Representatives from University Hospitals manned several activity stations throughout the Avon Heinen's to discuss these and other topics including infant/toddler food progression, food allergies, sugar and fat content, portion sizes, breastfeeding, poison prevention and activities.

Shoppers were offered a Family Health Day Passport as they entered the store, as they stopped at each station, shoppers received a stamp.  After visiting each station, prizes were awarded to children and parents were entered for a chance to win a $25 Heinen's gift card.

Marty Krebs, board member at University Hospitals, said the events where designed to build community awareness and promote healthy lifestyles, especially for children.

"Childhood obesity is an epidemic", said Krebs, "This program focuses on what you eat and what your children eat." 

Krebs said she expects more of these events to be scheduled in partnership with Heinen's.
