Avon Lake Singer Releases New Album, Hosting Free Show

Megan Zurkey will perform with Patrick Scanlon at The Winchester this Saturday

Avon Lake’s Megan Zurkey, who was recently featured on Cleveland's The Voice competition, has just released a new EP titled Dollhouse.

Zurkey said Dollhouse is a mix of singer/songwriter style, pop and country.

“This EP is a collection of new songs that I've been working on since the summer of 2011,” she said. “I wrote all the music and lyrics. The producer/mixer was Jack Dill (a former Merple) who lives in LA.

“The guitar was all done by Bill Scott, a member of one of Jack's bands in Los Angeles.”

The busy singer will also be offering a free show on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9 p/m. – midnight at in Lakewood. She will be performing as a duo with guitarist Patrick Scanlon. Admission is free.

Completing the EP was a big step for Zurkey, who appropriately works for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum as a membership service representative.

“I am so very excited this EP is finally done,” she said. “It has taken longer than I was hoping for, but taught me patience and showed me that good things take time. The music wouldn't be right if we rushed the process. It's like a journal of this chapter of my life that can't be taken away. This is why I love songwriting.”

The EP (extended-play-single) is available on several online stores and in print, including iTunes, eMusic, Amazon mp3, Zune and Rhapsody and more. It can also be streamed from Zurkey’s website, www.meganzurkey.com or at www.reverbnation.com/meganzurkey .
