Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club Wins Ohio 'Garden Club of the Year

Will now compete at the national level.

Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club came up as big winners at the April 16-17 85th Annual Convention of Garden Clubs of Ohio, including “2012 Garden Club of the Year.” The convention was held at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls.

“Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club entered a number of projects and programs along with our Flower Show from last summer,” Club president Audrey Roberts said.

The club was also awarded two second-place and 10 first place awards for their ork, one of which was 1st place for the Club’s Flower Show, Shades of Old Glory " in July 2012.

Along with the certificates of awards, the club also received monetary awards.

“Because our Flower Show took first place, it will now go on to National Garden Club's Inc. and will be among all 1st place Flower Shows from the other states, in hopes of being chosen for a national award,” Roberts said.

The club won’t learn if they won a national award until the National Garden Clubs convention.
