Chorale Sweeps State Contest with all Superior Scores

District's renowned music program earns another honor.

The Chorale earned Four Straight Superior Ratings ("ones") in Class AA, the most difficult classification, at the Ohio Music Education Association State Choir Competition April 27.

The competition was held at the Highland High School Performing Arts Center in Medina. 

The road to the state competition was first paved with the Chorale's superior ratings at the March 7 District Contest.

The Chorale, directed by William G. Zurkey, entered the contest in Class “AA’ which is the most difficult classification of music. The selections performed included Psalm 148, by Nystedt, Heilig! Heilig! Heilig!, by Mendelssohn, and The Battle of Jericho, by Hogan. 

Judges comments on the performance included, “A truly musical presentation!, Wonderful, resonant tone throughout the choir! Thank you for your dedication to the art of choral music. A truly outstanding musical performance! A treat to hear you!”
