Five Things This Weekend: Theater, Fundraisers, Decluttering

There's lots going on in the area

If the warmer weather this week has you itching to get out and do something this weekend, there are lots of options. We've picked five.

  1. Enjoy coffee with friends and help a good cause as Caribou Coffee in Avon Commons holds a from 2 p.m. to closing on Saturday. Twenty percent of all sales will be donated to LLS. There will also be raffles of gift baskets.
  2. It'll be a dog-gone good time at in Avon Lake on Sunday as Love-A-Stray hosts a dog-walking fundraiser for Relay for Life. There will be contests, and a bake sale for both people and dogs. Registration is $20 day of the event.
  3. Want to see a show but don't feel like going to Playhouse Square? Check out Huntington Playhouse in Bay Village. The theater is putting on the musical comedy, "The Drowsy Chaperone," through June 5. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students.
  4. If you have old electronics in your house, Saturday's the day to get rid of them. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at City Hall as part of Avon Pride Days. TVs and bubble monitors will not be accepted.
  5. Family and friends have rallied around Avon High School freshman since he was paralyzed in a motocross accident in February. A fundraiser is being held at to help the family with its expenses. Tickets are $20.
