It is that time of year again for Medicare’s Open Enrollment. On Thursday, Oct. 17 from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m., a representative from Karsten Bradley Advice Solutions will talk about Medicare and Medicare Part D for 2014 and answer questions you may have. Suitcase Museum – Then and Now

Lorain County was home to a number of inventors in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. On Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., Janet Bird from the Lorain County Historical Society will share stories about the County’s earliest inventors. She will also bring along her “suitcase” full of artifacts, illustrating the inventive minds at work in Lorain County.

Calling all young adults. Celebrate Teen Read Week, Oct. 13 – 19 by taking the mystery book challenge. The challenge is the books are all covered up, except for a few words so you don’t know for sure what you are reading.  Check out a mystery book for your chance to win a prize.

Poppin’ Popcorn Bar

Oct. is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month. “Pop” into the Young Adult department anytime on Tuesday, Oct. 15 between 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. to create your own unique popcorn treat, using pretzels, candies, gummies, and other sweets.  

Books & Art

Do you enjoying art AND reading?  Join us on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. and listen to the story of Katie and her misadventures in the art museum. Learn about post-impressionism and then try your hand at oil pastels as you design some van-Gogh-esque sunflowers. For students in grade 2 – 4. Registration is required, beginning Monday, Oct. 14 in the Children’s department or by calling 440-933-8917.

Jr. Tree House Club – Wonderful Windmill

Kids ages 6 and 7 are invited to join the Jr. Tree House Club on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 4 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.. Have fun re-using household objects instead of throwing them away.  Register in DiscoveryWorks or by calling 440-933-7848.
