"The Hunger Games" and Young Fans: Moms Talk

Are your children devouring the books and movie?

The Hunger Games is proving to be quite satisfying at the box office, raking in a record, which grossed $152.2 million in its opening weekend in North America last weekend.

The movie is based on the first of a trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins. It's set in the post-apocalyptic North American nation of Panem.

The dystopic world of Panem, where powerless young people are put into an arena to slaughter each other for the elite's entertainment, is a disturbing place to be. Young people are in scary, violent situations and some of them die. The film is rated PG-13.
