BOOK DISCUSSION

Read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair with Avon Branch Library. This book reveals intolerable labor practices and unsanitary working conditions in the Chicago stockyards, following the story of a Slavic family of emigrants. The Library’s Adult Book Discussion group will talk about this book on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. Copies of the book are available at the Library. New members are welcome to the discussion on this story that led to significant social change. For more

FRIENDS OF THE AVON LIBRARY MEETING

Friends of the Avon Library are meeting at Lorain Public Library 
System’s Avon Branch Library onThursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. The purpose of the 
Friends is to promote knowledge of Library functions and needs of the Library, 
and also to help raise funds for special needs beyond the Library’s budget. New

TECH HELP

The school year is once again upon us. Come to Tech Help class 
on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 2:30 p.m. at Avon Branch Library. Whether you’re a student with questions about library research databases, or an adult with a new device such as a tablet, the Library is here to help. Tech Help is an informal session where you can ask any technology-related questions you want. No question is too basic. Preregistration is required and is available online at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling the Avon Branch Library at 440-934-4743. 

COMPUTER AND INTERNET FOR BEGINNERS

Receive a hands-on introduction to computers and the Internet at the Avon Branch Library on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. This basic class will cover identifying computer parts and how the Windows operating system works. You will also learn how to use the Internet, including how to use Internet Explorer.
