The Raybans Performing In Avon Lake June 12; Summer Programs Begin

It’s the last week of school. Now what? Here are a few tips from the Avon Lake Public Library for kids and adults. From story times to a beach party concert to Lego Summer Camp, these events are an easy way to start your summer:

Summer Story Times Begin All Story Times begin the week of Monday, June 10 and end Thursday, July 18. There is no registration for Family Story Times. Numbered tickets are available one-half hour before each scheduled time, on a first-come-first-served basis. 

 Dinner at KRAV Food Truck
 No cooking tonight. The KRAV Food Truck is rolling into the Library parking lot on Wednesday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. KRAV’s chef, Todd Berry of Avon Lake, serves up delicious sandwiches, burgers, gyros and more, as well as a kids menu, all at affordable prices. KRAV was featured inScene Magazine as a great Cleveland “Cheap Eat.” 

Beach Party Concert with The Raybans Grab your lawn chairs or beach blanket and join us on the south lawn for the live beach music of The Raybans. On Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. enjoy a wide range of music from Latin, Jazz and Top 40, to a little Jimmy Buffett and Bob Marley. Order up dinner or a snack from the KRAV food truck and stay for the concert. You will think you are on vacation.

Tree House Club – Rain Gutter Regatta
 Kids ages 8 - 11 are invited to join the Tree House Club on Wednesday, June 12 from 1 p.m. – 1:45 pm. Create and race your own pool-noodle sailboat. Register in DiscoveryWorks or by calling 440.933.7848. 
LEGO Summer Camp – Monday, July 29 to Thursday, Aug. 1

  •  Jr. Engineering – Use gears and motors to build unique LEGO designs. For ages 6 and 7. Jr. Engineering is from 9 am – noon. Registration and course fee of $109 per child will be accepted in DiscoveryWorks until July 5. 
  •  Collision Cars – Build battle-bots and program them for competition. For ages 8 -11. Collision Cars is from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Registration and course fee of $109 per child will be accepted in DiscoveryWorks until July 5.
 2014 Budget Hearing The budget hearing for the 2014 proposed appropriations budget for Avon Lake Public Library will be held on Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees.
